“What’s the Craic?” for January 2014
The Craic Session is at Meg O’Malley’s!
Please join us on Tuesday, January 7th, between 5:00-6:30 P.M. at Meg O’Malley’s on the outside patio area. This is, as always, a time dedicated to Irish culture and heritage. This upcoming session will feature the famous “Battle of Clontarf”, which took place on April 23, 1014 — between the forces of Brian Boru and the Vikings of Dublin and their allies. This battle changed forever the direction of European events.
During the Craic Session, Florida AOH State President Greg Seán Canning will discuss the background of events that lead up to the Battle of Clontarf and how the outcome of that Battle effected Ireland and Europe. While it left Ireland leaderless, the battle would forever break the political and military force of the Vikings.
It is our hope that you will find this session quite informative. His presentation will be based on the article, “The Battle of Clontarf,” which is posted on the aohflorida.org website under the “Irish and Irish-American History” subsection located under the Cultural Tab in the top Green Menu Bar. Once there, the Article will be listed under “Ancient Irish History“.
